SoCal Countermarch Weaving Retreat January 2026

Join Virginia for a 3+ day weaving retreat in sunny Orange County, California, January 16 - 19, 2026. Escape the cold while gaining skills dressing and tying up a countermarch loom, reading a Swedish weaving draft, and weaving on a mixed fiber warp that includes linen. Participants will weave three different samples, each a different weave structure. If you are considering adding an Öxabäck Lilla loom to your studio, this is a perfect opportunity to test one out! If you already own an Öxabäck Lilla loom, this is a perfect opportunity to pick up tips and tricks and weave, weave, weave!

The retreat will be held at a spacious hilltop house in Orange County, California. Participants have private rooms and share 3.5 bathrooms, common areas, and the kitchen. Virginia will provide a light breakfast, vegetarian lunch, and fika (coffee and snack) each day. Participants can prepare their own dinners at the house or eat out at nearby restaurants. The retreat is located less than 30 minutes from the Santa Ana/Orange County airport.

Retreat includes four nights, Thursday - Sunday (1/15 - 1/18), and three full days of weaving (Friday to Sunday) plus a few hours on Monday morning (1/19). Virginia will be onsite each day, 9 am to 5 pm. Participants may arrive Thursday (1/15) evening after 6 pm. Retreat ends by 11 am on Monday (1/19).

Price includes workshop, lodging, meals described above, and all materials.

$1,625 per weaver. $50 additional charge for the master suite.

This is an in-residence retreat. Participants stay at the house during the workshop, weaving to their heart’s content!
