Winnies Vävar [Winnie's Weaves] by Winnie Poulsen

A once-in-a-lifetime book by a once-in-a-lifetime weaver. Winnie is a Danish weaver who has been weaving for nearly 60 years and is one of the original contributors to Väv Magazine (beginning in 1982!). Winnie has an exquisite sense of color and an awe-inspiring facility with weave structures. She began as a rug weaver who now counts fan weaving (solfjädersked) as a favorite but the breath and scope of her experience and knowledge knows no bounds. Winnie particularly likes to weave for the home and for clothing. All of her clothes are handwoven and handsewn and exude her artistic flair and technical prowess. As the book's forward by Tina and Bengt Ignell (publishers of Väv Magazine) states, Winnie Poulsen is a very special weaver.

Winne has taught in art schools in both Denmark and Sweden and continues to offer one-week courses in Sweden. I have had the great honor of taking two courses with Winnie, and my weaving has never been the same since. Winnie is truly, without hyperbole, a master weaver and an inspirational force of nature.
